The Petrolia Squires were in action Friday night,
and took on the Lucan-Ilderton Jets in Lucan, and
came away with a 5-3 victory.
Petrolia got on the board early in the first when
Breydan Belan scored his 5th of the season to give
the Squires an early 1-0 lead. Despite being outshot
12-6, the Squires held the Jets to no goalies in the
period as Steve Bryce made all 12 saves.
Jeremiah Goodacre scored his 5th of the season to
put the Squires up 2-0 in the second period, and
again Bryce held the Jets to no goals on 7 shots.
But this period the Squires got 18 shots on net but
were still only able to score a single goal in the
period.
The
game opened up in the third. Petrolia made it 3-0
when Jason Polera added his 24th of the season.
Belan added his second of the game to put the
Squires up 4-0. The Jets finally got on the board on
the powerplay when Scott Mezenberg scored his 9th of
the season. Kyle Smith and Chris Golem would score
the next two goals for the Jets to get them back
into the game at 4-3. But Craig LaFramboise would
ice the game with twenty-four seconds left to give
the Squires a 5-3 win.
Petrolia's
next game is Saturday 22nd against Tillsonberg.
