andrew brethauer january 4th, 2011

The Northern Vikings got out to an early lead and didn't look back as they nearly doubled up the SCITS Blue Bombers 44-23 in Junior boys Basketball Tuesday night at Northern.

Theo Karouzas got the Vikings off to a great start as he made two free throws, stole the ball and drove to the net for two, and stole it again and passed it off for two more to help give the Vikings an early 6-0 lead. Luke Charlton would also add two points for an 8-0 lead before the Bombers would respond with four points of their own, including two from T. Wildschut. But Karouzas would add two more, driving to the net, while V. Liang would drop for two of his own for the Bombers, while adding a jumper. By the end of the first quarter the Vikings had a 13-9 lead.

The second quarter would be more Vikings offence as they put in 12 more points to SCITS 4. Jordan Huzevka would put in a jumper from the top of the key for two points and another jumper for two. R. Waltham would get two of the Bombers four points, while the Vikings got more offence from Dalton Kilmer who put in four points before the end of the half, giving the Vikings a 25-13 lead at the break.

In the third, Huzevka would get a give-and-go for the bucket, while C. Soden got two of his own for the Bombers. Huzevka would add two more in the quarter, while Luke Charlton would get two, and Shane Remes would get four to push the Viking lead to 38-20 by the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was slowed down, as the teams combined for only nine points, including a three pointer from Soden of the Bombers. But it wasn't enough as the Vikings go on to defeat the Bombers 44-23.
