Sarnia, ON - The Pittsburgh U16's are the 2012
Midget AA Girl's Silver stick champions after a 4-1
victory over the Oakville Hornets Sunday afternoon
at the Clearwater Arena.
 Pittsburgh
had a 2-0 lead after the first period, as Christina Zalewski opened the scoring early in the first
period for the 1-0 lead, and Makenna Newkirk scored
the second Pittsburgh goal.
Kristin
Lewicki would make it a 3-0 Pittsburgh lead with her
goal in the second period while Gracen Hirschy would
make it a four goal lead 45 seconds into the third
period.
Oakville
would eventually get one back as Jordan Martin
scored, but it would be as close as they would come,
as Pittsburgh would take the Midget AA championship
4-1.
Pittsburgh
went went 3-0 in the round robin games, defeating
Bluewater 3-1, Oakville 6-0, and Chatham 8-2. In the
quarter finals they defeated Clearview 5-0, and they
defeated Saugeen 3-2 in the semi-finals to make it
into the finals.
Oakville
went 1-1-1 in the round robin games, losing to
Pittsburgh 6-0, defeating kitchener 5-0 and tying
Saugeen 1-1. They defeated Honey Baked 3-2 in the
quarter finals and defeated Kitchener 3-2 in the
quarter finals to make it into the finals.
