andrew brethauer February 5th, 2012

Sarnia, ON - The Woodstock Wildcats are the 2012 Peewee B Sarnia Girl's Silver Stick champions, defeating the Ilderton Jets 2-1 in six overtime periods.

It was a goalie duel between Alannah Gosnell of Woodstock and Erin McAdams of Ilderton, as both goalies held shutouts heading into the third period of hockey.

In the third, Woodstock would be the first on the board as Calli McMillan scored in the middle of the period to make it a 1-0 game.

The Jets would respond three minutes later as Taryn Kennedy would tie the game at 1-1. Neither team could find the go ahead goal and so the game needed overtime.

The game would go into six overtimes as each team had their chances but it was turned aside by Gosnell and McAdams.

In the sixth overtime it would take 25 seconds for Amy Smith to beat McAdams, giving the Peewee B championship to the Woodstock Wildcats.

Woodstock went undefeated all tournament, picking up round robin wins over Waterloo 6-2, Troy 8-0, and Lambton Shores 7-1. They defeated Brampton 2-0 in the quarter finals and Ayr 2-0 in the semi-finals to earn their spot in the championship game.

Ilderton did not allow a goal through the round robin, defeating Sarnia 6-0, Clearview 5-0 and Ayr 3-0. They defeated Waterloo 7-1 in the quarter finals and Brampton 3-0 in the semi-finals.
