Squires win game six; take series 4-2
sarniasports.com February 19th, 2011

The Petrolia Squires are moving on to the second round of the WOAA Sr. Hockey playoffs, as the Squires won game 6, 7-3, to take the series against Milverton 4-2.

It didn't take the Squires long to get a lead in the first period, as Jeremiah Goodacre scored his first of the playoffs 1:37 into the first period. Three minutes later while down a man, Scott McPhail would make it 2-0 for the Squires with a shorthanded goal, his first of the playoffs as well.

Milverston would cut the lead in half as Dan Rhame would get his fifth of the series on the powerplay to make it 2-1. But the Squires would answer back under a minute later as Dan Veenema scored his 4th of the series to put the Squires back up by two. But just as quickly, the 4WheelDrives would get it back as well, as Scott Voisin scored his first on the powerplay to bring Milverton back to within one. But the special teams seemed to rule the period, as Carson Simpson would give the Squires the two goal lead before the period was out with his second of the series on the powerplay.

In the second period the Squires would again start out early, and again on the powerplay. Goodarce would get his second of the game to put the Squires up by three. Milverton would put 10 shots on net during the period but couldn't beat Justin Day, but the Squires would beat Tyler Huston once more before the period expired as Chris McPhail got his first of the playoffs, putting the Squires up 6-2 after two periods.

In the third, the Squires kept coming, with Craig LaFramboise scoring his first to make it 7-2. Brent Freeman would add one more for the 4WheelDrives but it wasn't enough, as the Squires took the game and series.
