Minor Atom MD Sting win first game of play downs against London
sarniasports.com February 17th, 2011

The Sarnia Jr. Sting Minor Atom MD started their play downs on Wednesday February 16 when they traveled to London to
face the West London Hawks.

Sarnia had a 4-0 lead late in the second period before the Hawks mounted a comeback with 3 unanswered goals. Cameron Stevens played the entire game between the pipes for the Jr. Sting and held on for the 4-3 victory.

Zac Moore started the scoring for the Jr. Sting in the first frame when he buried a rebound from a Kaz Gudelis point
shot. With four minutes remaining in the second period Kaz would score on another point shot that surprised the
screened Hawks netminder. Hayden Griffin picked up an assist on the play.

One minute later Kaz would once again play a part in the Jr. Stings scoring by creating a turn-over in the Hawks zone and
dishing the puck to Collin Zimmer who snuck it in under the London goalie. With a minute twenty left in the second Ryan Eyre would dig the puck out of the corner and thread a beautiful pass to Zimmer in front of the Hawks net for Collins second of the game.

West London did not give up and would score their first goal with 31 seconds left in the second period, another at the 7 minute mark of the third period and add another with one minute left in the game. With the London goalie on the bench for the extra attacker Sarnia kept the puck out of their end for the final 60 seconds to secure the win.

The Minor Atom MD team will play the London Bandits on Friday February 18 at the Clearwater Arena at 7:00.
