The
Blenheim Blades got a much needed win in their best
of seven series against Wallaceburg, as the Blades
took game three 2-1, defeating the Lakers at home
which has not been an easy task for most teams in
the Junior C league.
In the
first period Blenheim got out to the early start
with Nathan Puchnatyi scoring unassisted to give the
Blades their first lead of the series 1-0. But
Wallaceburg would be able to knot the game up at 1-1
when Rob Pollock scored on the powerplay with five
seconds remaining in the first to square the game.
Blenheim
was outshot in the first period 18-5, but Taylor
Speed managed to allow only the one special teams
goal.
In the
second period, Blenheim would retake the lead again
early as Thomas Innes scored to make it 2-1.
Wallaceburg again outshot the Blades 17-12, but the
Lakers offence wasn't able to put anything by Speed.
The third
period brought no scoring and the Blades cut the
series in half 2-1.
Speed made
42 saves on 43 shots in his first victory of this
years playoffs. Matt Berglund made 20 saves in the
loss.
Game 4
goes February 20th in Blenheim.
