The Great
Lakes Junior C hockey league handed out their awards
at their annual banquet, and some local talent was
recognized.
Coming
away with two awards was Mooretown Flags leading
scorer Jason Teschke, who picked up the League
Scoring title as well as the Most Valuable Player
award. Teschke had 35 goals, 37 assist for 72 points
in 39 games for the Flags this season.
Brother
Josh Teschke would also pick up some hardware as he
was named Most Desire player Josh had 24 goals, 39
assist for 63 points in 39 games, good enough for
third in the league in points.
Other
awards were given to Dan Warner of Alvinston who
earned the Rookie of the Year award with his 25
goals, 25 assists and 51 points in all 40 games for
the Flyers, good enough for 9th in the league in
scoring.
The
Wheatley Shakrs got two awards, one for coaching
staff while Kurtis Ouellette picked up defencemen of
the year honours. And Belle River was given the
goaltenders of the year as Andrew Thompson went
16-6-0 and Darien Ekblad went 13-4-1 for the
Canadiens.
