The
Petrolia Squires have taken a 3-1 series lead and
can close out the MIlverton 4WheelDrives with a win
on Sunday as the Squires took game 3 5-3 and game 4,
5-4.
Game
Three
The
Squires took a two goal lead on Milverton after
Aaron Brand got his third of the playoffs in the
first period, and Dan Veenema scored his third as
well on the powerplay twenty-seven seconds into the
second period. Milverton's Dan Rhame would get his
first of the series twenty-two seconds after that to
cut the lead in half, but Dreydan Delan would get
his second for Petrolia to make it 3-1. But quickly
again Milverton would respond with Brent Freeman's
third goal of the series to end the second 3-2.
In the
third Jason Polera would get his third of the series
and his third point of the night to restore the two
goal lead. Brand would get his second of the gamne
on an empty net to seal the victory, though Cary
Werth would get one back for Milverton seconds
later, but still fell 5-3 in the game three.
Game
Four
In game four the Squires owned the third period to
take a 5-4 victory. Mike Gardner opened the scoring
in the first to put the Squires up 1-0. From there
they would go silent. Milverton would get that goal
back at the end of the first as Dan Rhame scored
shorthanded to make it 1-1 after one.
Second
period it would be Rhame again to put the
4WheelDrives up 2-1. The Squires couldn't respond in
the second and Milverton went into the final period
up 2-1.
In the
third Tyson Dejong would make it 3-1 for Milverton
but the Squires were not out of it. JJ Martin would
get his first of the night on the powerplay to cut
the lead to just one. A minute later it would be
Kyle Gould on the powerplay again as Petrolia ties
it at 3-3. With the period coming to a close both
teams would look for the go ahead and it would be
Martin for his second of the night to give the
Squires their first lead since the first period. And
with just 2 minutes remaining, Jason Polera would
score the fourth goal of the period for Petrolia to
give them a two goal lead. Milverton would one more
but couldn't find the equalizer as Petrolia takes a
3-1 series lead.
