The Sarnia Major Atom Sting lost their final regular season game to the North London Nationals in London Monday evening, but would win their first game of the playoffs against Oakridge on Thursday evening.

The Sting would lose by a final score of 4 – 3 to North London although they would outshoot the Nationals by a margin of 35 – 11. Tristan Haagsma (Jack Smith) scored an early goal to give the Sting the lead but London would battle back scoring the next 2 goals. Jack Smith (Brett Allardyce) would tie the game for the Sting but North London would score once again to take a 3 – 2 lead. Mac Caley (Jack Smith, Justin Houle) would once again tie the score for Sarnia. North London would score the go ahead goal early in the 3rd period. The Sting would apply some strong pressure, but would be unable to get the equalizer and fall by a final score of 4 – 3.

On Thursday night, the Sting got off to a weak start against Oakridge in the first game of the playdowns, playing from behind for most of the game. The Sting looked rather sloppy and tired for most of the game, but were able to secure the win with 2 goals by Jake Vince in the 3rd period for a final score of 4 - 3. Dawson Young and Lucas Ross would score the other Sting goals. Brett Allardyce would tally 3 assists, Austin Coutts would pick up 2 assists with single assists going to Tristan Haagsma and Mackenzie Caley. James Dunn made several key saves as the winning goaltender.
