With five
goals in the second period, the Wallaceburg Lakers
took game one of their best of seven series against
the Blenheim Blades in Great Lakers Junior C hockey
action Wednesday night.
Wallaceburg let go on the Blades, blasting 22 shots
on net in the first period. It took the Lakers just
three minutes to get on the board as Nash Lozon made
it 1-0 early. By the end of the period it was 2-0 as
Rob Pollock scored on the powerplay.
In the
second Tyler Lewis made it 3-0 with his early period
goal. Blenheim got onto the board in the second as
Owen Kent made it 3-1. But Wallaceburg again were
putting a load of shots on net in the period and
would score three more times, as Kody Ryan, Jordan
Durstin, and Dustin Cope each scored singles goals,
while Pollock added his second of the game. It was
enough to chase Taylor Speed from the net after
allowing 5 goals on 33 shots.
With the
Lakers up 7-1, they didn't need any scoring in the
third as game one went out with the 7-1 final.
Matt
Berglund picked up the victory, stopping 29 of 30
shots he faced.
Game two
will go February 13th. |
