Sarnia blanked by London, look to regroup against Predators
dan mccaffery February 9th, 2011

The Sarnia Legionnaires will try to get back in the win column tonight when they host the Lambton Shores Predators.

Coach Dan Rose's club was blanked 4-0 Wednesday in London in a game in which they outshot the hometown Nationals 31-25.

In fact, the Legionnaires dominated the first period, but hard luck around the net prevented them from taking the lead.

London came on strong in the second frame, grabbing a 2-0 edge. The Nats added two more in the third stanza.

Former Sarnia Sting Marcus Pepe paced the Nationals with two goals and an assist.

Rose said afterward that his club had “outchanced” London. It was, he said, a strong effort on the road, even if the results were disappointing.

The loss snapped a three-game Sarnia winning streak.

Tonight's game

As for tonight, the Legionnaires will be looking to get back up to the .500 mark when they tackle the Preds.

Lambton Shores is on a 25-game losing streak but the club put in a gutsy effort earlier this week, taking a 5-1 lead against the first place Strathroy Rockets before eventually being defeated.

The Predators usually lose by large margins these days, mainly because they have been unable to ice a full lineup. But from time to time they still come close to winning.

Sean Parker will get the start in net for the Legionnaires.

Sarnia will be missing Tanner Tomlinson and Tanner Ferguson, both of whom are injured. But Andy Sokol will return from a suspension.
