Lakers win final game of the season against playoff opponent

The Wallaceburg Lakers sent a message to the Blenheim Blades Monday night, as the Lakers pounded the net with shots and took a 4-1 victory against their playoff opponent in the final game of the regular season.

It only took the Lakers 1:10 to get the scoring going as Sam Jasmin made it 1-0 with his 10th of the season. Blenheim would score their only goal of the game ten minutes later as Thomas Innes scored his 29th of the season to tie the game at 1-1 after one period of play.

In the seconds the Lakers outshot the Blades 17-12 and in those shots Kody Ryan round the back of the net for the 5th time this year and made it a 2-1 game after two periods of play.

In the third the Lakers again took to unloading on the Blades goalie, putting 16 shots on net to the Blades 6. Rob Pollock and Norm Leger scored for the Lakers as they took it 4-1.

Reid Rankin got his 5th win of the season and made 25 saves in the victory, while Brandon Cowell made 30 saves on 33 shots in the loss, and Taylor Speed made 8 saves on 9 shots in his twenty minutes of play.

Game one of their playoff series will go Wednesday February 9th in Wallaceburg.
