The
Petrolia Squires took game one of their best of
seven series against the Milverton 4WheelDrives with
a 6-1 victory Friday night in Petrolia.
The Squires jumped out to the early lead as Ryan
Chapman scored just three minutes into the game to
give the Squires the 1-0 lead. Team leader in
scoring Jason Polera would also get on the board
minutes later, as Petrolia was up 2-0 at the end of
the first period.
In the
second they took control of the scoreboard. Carson
Simpson made it 3-0, while Breydan Belan made it 4-0
for the Squires midway through the second period. JJ
Martin and Aaron Brand would add two more goals for
the Squires as they lead 6-0 after the second
period, and had outshot Milverton 29-19 in the two
periods.
The only
downside to the victory was that Tyson DeJong would
spoil the shutout for the Squires as he got a
powerplay goal in the third to make it 6-1.
Justin Day
made 29 saves on 30 shots in the victory for his
first of the playoffs.
Game 2
will go February 5th in Milverton.
