Sting Peewee B's shutout in Silver Stick
andrew brethauer February 5th, 2011

The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Peewee A team had a tough Saturday Morning as the Ladies were shutout 7-0 against the Lucan Irish.

Lucan got the scoring started early as Martha Talbot caught Zoey Stone going to down early and slide a low shot into the back of the net. Lucan would make the lead 2-0 after Bridgette Cocquyt let a wrist shot go from the point which eventually bounced to the top of the net giving the Irish a two goal lead after the first. Sarnia had a tough time clearing the zone and getting scoring chances.

The Sting would hold off the Lucan attack for half of the period. Midway through Sarnia would change goalies as Brooke Kirkland came in. On the first shot she faced Madison Fisher picked the top corner of the net with a hard wrist shot and put Lucan up 3-0.

Sarnia could not get much pressure in the Lucan zone, and allowed lots of scrambles for the puck in front of their own net. With constant pressure Lucan would find the back of the net again as Talbot found Jamie Wakefield out front who wrists a shot passed Kirland to make it 4-0 after two periods.

In the third Kirkland would make a big save with the stick on a wrap around attempt as Lucan kept the puck in the zone. But eventually the pressure would again lead to another goal as Wakefield scored her second of the game with a low shot at the side of the net to make it 5-0.

Thirty-nine seconds later Tate Tindall would send a shot on net and an unlucky bounce for the Sting put them down 6-0 as the puck trickled into the net. Tindall would get one more goal as she bangs home a rebound that Kirkland couldn't hand as the Irish go on to the 7-0 victory.

The Sarnia Lady B's were shutout in all three games they played during the Silver Stick tournament as they lost 5-0 to Mt. Forest and 2-0 to Wilmot.
