In
their first game of the Sarnia Silver Stick
tournament, the Sarnia Jr Lady Sting Midget B came
back from two goals down to eventually tie the game
and escape with 1 point in a 4-4 draw against the
Mt. Clemens Wolves.
In the
first period the Wolves got on the Sting, as Natalie
Finazzo jammed in a lose puck at the side of the net
to put the Wolves up 1-0. It would only take the
Sting twenty-nine seconds to respond, as Nicki
Parkes chipped the puck over the sprawled goalie to
tie the game at 1-1. But the Wolves would get the
pressure back into the Sting zone and it eventually
paid off, as a shot was put onto Sting goalie Dani
Lachapelle which should couldn't handle, and the
rebound came out at the side of the net where Devin
Tomlinson put it in to put the Wolves back in front
2-1.
Nathalie
Pringle had a chance to tie the game on the
breakaway but her shot wrist shot could not beat
Stankovski who turned it aside. Near the end of the
period the Sting would get a powerplay chance. The
faceoff would be won back to the blue line but the
shot by the defence went into the shine pads of
Kayla Nowicki, who picked up the puck and moved in
on Lachapelle, beating the Lady Sting goalie with a
backhand to put the Wolves up 3-1 at the end of the
first.

In the
second the Sting would get their chances early,
getting a breakaway opportunity but again it was
turned aside. Pringle had another breakaway chance,
this time shorthanded but still couldn't get it
passed the goalie. Sarnia would have an issue
clearing the puck on the penalty kill and give Mt.
Clemens chances to put it in, but the Sting made
sure shots did not get to the net. Pringle would get
another chance in the slot but her shot sailed high
of the net. But moments later she would get another
chance in front of the goalie and this time she put
it passed the line to bring the Lady sting to within
one.
In the
third the Lady Sting pressed hard and it paid off
quickly as Pringle was able to put the puck over the
pad of Stankovski at the side of the net for her
second of the game to tie the game at 3-3, erasing
the two goal lea d
the Wolves had. Sarnia kept up the pressure but
nothing could get to the net. And when the Wolves
came back down the ice, Nowicki let a backhand go
from the slot that beat Lachapelle up high for her
second of the game to put the Wolves back in front
4-3. With the game coming to an end, the Lady Sting
put shots onto the net and crowded the crease. A
scramble in front of the net eventually lead to the
puck coming out onto Parkes stick, whose wrist shot
couldn't be 100% controlled and it trickled passed
Stankovski for the game tying goal. Neither team
could get the go ahead goal as they skate to a 4-4
draw.
Nicki
Parkes ended up with four points in the game with 2
goals and 2 assists in the tie.
The lady
Sting next take on Brampton at 7:35 at Clearwater on
