On Friday February 25 the Sarnia
Jr. Sting Minor Atom MD hosted
the London Nationals and skated
to a 3-3 tie.
London came out strong off the
drop of the puck and scored with
only 11 seconds into the start
of the game. Sarnia didn’t let
the early goal get them down and
battled back to tie the game 30
seconds later when Collin Zimmer
scored unassisted.
The Nationals went ahead 2-1
with two minutes left in the
second period and once again
Sarnia would tie the game less
than a minute later. This time
Mathew Waun would score with
Nathan Oliphant assisting.
The third period saw great
chances at both ends of the ice.
London would go ahead again with
8 minutes left in the third only
to have the Jr. Sting tie the
game as Mathew Waun scored his
second goal of the game. Collin
Zimmer and Ian Bailey provided
the assists on Mathew’s goal.
Logan Johnston played a very
strong game on defense and the
Jr. Sting Goalie pairing of
Stevie Schaefer and Cameron
Stevens turned away several
London shots as they kept the
Jr. Sting in the game.
The Minor Atom MD will travel to
Stratford on Sunday February 27
to face the Warriors.
