Edward Novice continues to roll with an 8-2 victory
over the Mount Brydges White Cougars heading into
the holidays. They remain in first place in the
Novice West Division of the Lambton Middlesex
League.
Point
Edward set the tone for the game, putting 4
unanswered goals in the first period. Jimmy Simpson
started the scoring with his first of 4-goals
half-way through the first period. Cameron Lacroix
and Owen Shearon added singles before Jimmy Simpson
scored in the last minute of the period to go up by
4 against the visitors.
In the
second period, Mount Brydges managed to put one by
goaltender Luke Crombeen and the defensemen. Jimmy
Simpson responded by turning on his afterburners and
blasting 2 more past the Mount Brydges netminder.
Defenseman
Cole Whitworth put in a powerplay goal for the
Blackhawks with a shot from the blueline that
deflected off the skate of a Mount Brydges defender,
putting the home side up 7-1. Mount Brydges managed
a second goal on a breakaway with 5 minutes left in
the game. A late goal by Corson Young and a penalty
in the last few minutes of the game sealed the fate
for the visiting Cougars.
