sarniasports.com December 19th, 2010

The Alvinston Flyers are now tied in second place with the Mooretown Flags after a 5-1 victory over the Dresden Jr. Kings. Though Mooretown still has two games to play to play as many as Alvinston, it has made a close race in the North Division.

Alvinston opened up the game with three goals straight. Dan Warner, Chase Clark and Ryan Dayman put the Flyers up 3-0 before Dresden's Wendel Mertz put in a powerplay goal to make it 3-1.

But Dresden would not be able to find the back of the net again for the rest of the game, as despite putting 22 shots on net in the second period alone. Chase Clark found the net again for his second of the game in the second to make it a 4-1 game. In the third, Kyle Brothers would score on the powerplay to make it 5-1 final.

Brandon Campbell stopped 42 of 43 shots for his 12th victory of the season, while Eric Steinman stopped 42 of 47 shots in the loss.

Dresden will take on Kingsville on Wednesday, December 22nd, while Alvinston will take on Wheatley on Monday, December 27th.
