Three minutes later, Dylan Mertz would score on the powerplay to make it a one goal game. McPhail would get his second of the game of the powerplay as well to tie the game at 4-4. Finally Ryan Cook would score the game winner, as the Kings put four in the net on 19 shots to take the victory.

Brent Paxton started the game for the Kings and saved 26 of 30 shots before being pulled to start the third. Eric Steinman made all 10 saves  in his period of work to get the win. Aeron Romeril stopped 38 of 43 shots in the loss.
