Point Edward Novice on top of standings after two victories
sarniasports.com December 12th, 2010

With 2 decisive wins this week, Point Edward Novice secured their position at the top of the standing in the Novice West Division with an 11-1-1 record.

The Point Edward Blackhawks Novice team was put to the test against a strong skating Mount Brydges Blue squad on Thursday but came out with an A+ effort! The two teams went end to end for most of the first period. Point Edward goalie Luke Crombeen made a series of acrobatic saves that kept the Cougars off the scoreboard.  At the other end, rushing defenseman Cameron Lacroix put 2 goals past the Cougars netminder and Jaxon Lucas added another to put the ‘Hawks in front 3-0 after the first.

Early in the second, Cameron Lacroix completed his hat trick to put the ‘Hawks up 4-0. Luke Crombeen continued to shine throughout the period, stopping everything the Cougars put towards the net.

In the third period, Mount Brydges managed to score early in the period but were unable to figure out the Point Edward defence or solid goaltending. The hard work of the back checking forwards continued to disrupt every effort that the opponents mounted. Shaun McDermott sealed their fate when he scored unassisted to put the Point up 5-1.
