Legionnaires preview against Chatham
dan mccaffery December 10th, 2010

The Sarnia Legionnaires play a crucial home game tonight.

Here's a preview of the contest:

WHO --- Sarnia Legionnaires (14-13-2) vs. the Chatham Maroons (12-17-1)

WHERE --- At the Brock Street Barn, with the puck drop set for 7:10 p.m.

WHO'S HOT:

Sarnia – Captain Tyler Cicchini has eight points in his last five games, including a goal in each of his last three. Ilya Arkalov has four goals in his last five outings.

Chatham – Patrick Watling, who wears No. 47, has nine points in his last five games.

SIGNIFICANCE – Sarnia has a five point lead over Chatham in the standings. A win tonight would give the Legionnaires a comfortable bulge over the Kent County squad. And with the two clubs slated to face off in Chatham on Sunday, the Legionnaires could shove the Maroons even further back.

RECENT RECORD – The Maroons have been on a terrible slide, losing 12 of their last 13. But a victory tonight would bring them within just three points of the Legionnaires.

It should also be remembered that Chatham has had more than its share of injuries in recent weeks. In other words, they are a better team than their record would indicate, at least when they have a full lineup.

Sarnia has been on a hot streak for weeks, winning seven of 10 games since new head coach Dan Rose took the reigns.

HISTORY – These two historic rivals have split the four games they've played against one another this season. Strangely, the road team has won all four contests, with the Legionnaires winning twice in Chatham while losing twice at home. Both teams have a shootout victory in the confrontations.
