On Tuesday
November 30 the
Sarnia Jr. Sting
Minor Atom MD
visited the
North London
Nationals in
London and
defeated the
home team by a
score of 3 - 2
in a game that
was decided in
the last second
of play.
In a battle for
first overall
both teams
looked to claim
bragging rights
and Sarnia
opened the
scoring at the 7
minute
mark. Zac Moore
passed the puck
from behind the
net to Evan
Trigatti who
banged in a
quick low shot.
Ryan Eyre was
also awarded an
assist on the
play.
The second
period would
result in only
one goal as
Collin Zimmer
added to the
Visitor score
board with an
unassisted
tally. Zimmer
used his
line-mate as a
decoy and ripped
a high shot to
give the Jr.
Sting a 2-0
lead. Stevie
Schaefer
started in net
for the Jr.
Sting and held
the Nationals
scoreless during
his watch
between the
pipes. Cam
Stevens came
in with 3
minutes left in
the second and
was immediately
challenged as he
was forced to
make several
scrambling
saves.
In the third the
Nationals would
catch a break as
Sarnia was
called for too
many men on the
ice. North
London scored
on the power
play and tied
the game up a
minute later.
The hard working
line of Hayden
Griffin, Ian
Bailey and
Zander
Campbell would
be rewarded at
the 5 minute
mark of the
third as a North
London turnover
resulted in a
Hayden Griffin
goal.assist
Bailey.
With the clock
running down and
the North London
net empty the
Nationals poured
it on and a
trickling puck
crossed the
Sarnia goal
line.one second
after the final
horn sounded to
end the contest;
Sarnia 3 - North
London 2.
