12:00 Bluewater Power Titans - 67 vs. Lambton Metal Service Rampage - 08

The Sarnia Flag Football Association hosted the Bluewater Cup Championship game on Sunday December 05 at Lansdowne Park in Sarnia. On a snow covered field under clear but cold and windy skies, the 5 time defending champs, the Bluewater Power Titans hoped to add to their dynasty as they were challenged, yet again by the Lambton Metal Service Rampage. These 2 strong teams met in the championship for the third time in as many years. In both those earlier games (2008 and 09), the Titans narrowly defeated the Rampage. This year, both teams had something to prove; the Titans to show those last 2 years were flukes while the Rampage to show they are more than perennial bridesmaids.

In this game, Rampage won the coin toss and that would be the last thing that they would see go their way as after a quick 4 and out on their first possession, the Titans scored in just 2 plays. After another quick 4 and out by the Rampage, the Titans scored again, this time taking only 3 plays. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 19-0 for the Titans. Not much would change in the second quarter as the Titans seemed to have everything in line with the score climbing unanswered. By half-time, the score sat at 39-0...and it was looking like the Titan machine could not be stayed this year.

The next 2 quarters showed no change from the first 2 as the green machine continued to eat through blue players like fire through snow, the only sign of life for the Rampage coming from a touchdown from Rampage rookie Joel Houle....but that would be it for the Rampage before finally succumbing to the Titans with a final score of 67-08.

Titan quarterback Peter Faasse showed absolute control over the game in confusing the blue defense by spreading the ball out to many recievers. Titan scoring was by Russel Pettypeice, Jason Cain, Jim Grasse, Teppa Wettergreen, Bryan Weaver and Joe Parr as well as QB Faasse adding a run-in TD of his own. Titan defensive lineman Mike Griffin broke the SFFA record with 3 knockdowns, one of which resulted in an interception. Titan reciever and defensive back Bryan Weaver was voted the play-off Most Valuable Player.

With this final game, the Bluewater Power Titans are now the 6 time defending champions. Congratulations to the Bluewater Power Titans on a great undefeated season.
