The Point
Edward Atom
Blackhawks
travelled to
Huron Park
to play
South Huron
in
Lambton-Middlesex
league
action and
came away
with a 4-0
win powered
by the
awesome
goaltending
of Bailey
Reinders and
Josh
MacDonald.
The
Blackhawks
came to play
as the Point
had a close
chance to
start the
scoring
early in the
period but
they
couldn’t
control the
puck to put
it in.
Midway
through the
period,
Boccanfuso
keeping the
puck in the
South Huron
zone, made a
pass to Noah
Best who
deked the
goalie to
get the
Hawks on the
board. The
first period
wasn’t a
good one for
South Huron
as the Hawks
were getting
all the
breaks as
shown by
Horner’s
bouncing
shot from
the top of
the face-off
circle that
caught the
goalie off
guard and
made it 2-0
going into
the second.
Both teams
started the
second
period
defensively
as the Hawks
had a good
lead and
South Huron
was trying
to keep the
Point away
from their
net. The
second
period saw
the Hawks
get into
penalty
trouble as
they played
approximately
6 minutes
shorthanded
but Reinders,
MacDonald
and the
defense kept
South Huron
off the
score sheet.
Gladwish
managed to
squeak in a
behind the
netter
before the
period ended
to give the
Hawks a
three goal
cushion
going into
the third.
The Point
began the
third
playing both
ways and
fore-checking
well. With
the Hawks
aggressive
play towards
the puck,
the South
Huron goalie
had to make
some good
saves to
keep it at
3-0. As the
period hit
the mid-way
marker,
South Huron
had an
excellent
scoring
opportunity
but Reinders
slammed the
door and
made a great
save to keep
the shut-out
alive. With
the game
coming to a
close,
Gladwish
intercepted
a cross-ice
pass and put
it in the
top corner
to end the
game 4-0.
