Lakers lose second straight at home
sarniasports.com December 29th, 2010

After starting the season 13-0-0 at home, the Wallaceburg Lakers have dropped two in a row, this time falling 2-1 to Essex. Both of the Lakers home losses have come to teams in the South Division.

Essex opened the scoring early in the first period, as Brian Hamlin scored a powerplay goal to give the 73's a 1-0 lead. The shots were close, 11-10 in favor of Essex.

To start the second period, Essex would open up their lead as Adam Dunmore scored just fifty seconds into the period to put Essex up 2-0. Again this would be the only scoring of the period, as the Lakers were not able to cut into the lead.

Finally in the third, Wallaceburg would get on the board, as Tyson Isaac scored 1:55 into the first, giving the Lakers plenty of time to tie the game. But Chad Summerfield stood strong, stopping the remaining shots he faced for the victory, as the Lakers outshot Essex 15-5 in the final period.

Summerfield made a total of 34 saves on 35 shots, while Matt Berglund stooped 28 of 30.

This would be the final game of 2010 for Wallaceburg, as they will next take on Dresden on January 5th.
