The
Wallaceburg Lakers were undefeated at home until
Wednesday night when they suffered a 7-2 loss to the
Belle River Canadiens. Belle River seemingly
dominated the play, beating the Lakers to the puck
and outshooting them 54-24.
2:53 into
the first, Brett Hickey put in the first goal for
the Canadiens to give them the 1-0 lead. Wallaceburg
would respond minutes later as Wayd Pitfield scored
his ninth of the year to tie the game. But Bele
River would open up a lead, as Chris DiNatale scored
twice for the Canadiens and Donnovan Plummer added
one as well, as the Canadiens score three times in
four minutes.
The
presure continued into the second, as Travis Brown
made it 5-1, scoring just 1:18 into the second.
Derek Haskel would score midway through the second
to put the Canadiens up 6-1, as Belle River held the
Lakers to just 5 shots in the period.
Wallaceburg would get on the board again as Garrett
Heiser added his first of the season. But Shane Noel
would add one more for the Canadiens, as they go on
to a 7-2 victory.
Matt
Berglund started the game for the Lakers making 23
of 28 saves. Reid Rankin came in and made 26 of 24
saves.
Belle
River and Wallaceburg are currently first in both
the South and North divisions. Wallaceburg will take
on Blenheim on Monday, December 27th. |
