The Point Edwards PeeWee Blackhawks hosted the Mt Brydges(Gold) Cougars and extended their league play winning streak to two in a row with a 7-1 win in Lambton-Middlesex league action.

 

The Blackhawks started the game by forcing the action into the Cougars zone with Mt Brydges fended off the pressure for most of the period. The Hawks pressure finally paid off late in the period with Best taking a pass from Riddell to make it 1-0. One minute later Boccanfuso made a zone clearing pass to Hocking at center ice who drove into the Cougars end and beat the goalie to make it 2-0. With the period coming to a close the Hawks managed one more when Kennedy set up Young from behind the net to make it 3-0 going into the second period.

 

The Hawks would get one more goal to start the second by Canie winning a draw and Lamore setting up Hocking who got his second of the game. With the game sitting a 4-0, the Cougars finally got their defense under control but the Point continued to charge after the puck preventing the Cougars of mustering up a charge into the Hawks zone. Mid-way through the period, Best would get his second of the night when he rushed into the Cougars end, deking out the defense and putting it in the top corner for a 5-0 Point lead. By the end of the period, Point Edward would take a commanding 6-0 lead into the third with a Nevin Smith goal.

 

The final period saw the Point continue to control play. At the midway point, the Hawks got into penalty trouble and the Cougars took advantage of the extra man with a scramble in front of Point Edward net and were able to get on the board. Laframboise ended the scoring for the Hawks to end the game 7-1.
