Lambton Jr Sting Minor Peewee final games before Christmas
December 23,
 2011

The Lambton Junior Sting Minor PeeWee AAA played their final 2 league games before the break for Christmas holidays.  They would be looking for 2 wins to bring their record to .500 for the season.

Last Saturday, the team came up with a flat effort against Huron Perth and would end up losing this game by a final score of 5 – 1.  The Lakers would score 2 goals in the 1st period and 2 more in the 2nd period to take a 4 – 0 lead into the 3rd period.  Josh Vale would finally solve the Lakers goalie in the 3rd period, knocking in a rebound with assists going to Nolan Farr and Jake Vince.  That would be the only offence generated by the Sting in this game.

On Sunday, the boys were eager to bring a stronger effort as they travelled to Essex to take on the Sun County Panthers.  The Sting would be able to get the first goal in this game with Nolan Farr knocking in a loose puck on the power play.  Sun County would press hard in response and would score the next 2 goals of the game to take a 2 – 1 lead.  Lambton would strike back quickly as Matthew Torti was sent in alone down the left wing on a nice feed from Dante Fuoco and beat the Panther goalie with a hard wrist shot and the game would be tied at 2 heading into the 3rd period.  Early in the 3rd period, Lucas Knowles would send a pass up to Dante Fuoco who in turn connected with Cameron Rombouts who charged to the net with a goal to give the Sting a 3 – 2 lead. The Sting would find themselves in penalty trouble for most of the 3rd period and unfortunately, the Panthers would score the goal to tie the game with only about 1 minute to play and the game would end in a 3 – 3 tie.  Jake Vince, Alec Trusler and Joe Correia would also be awarded assists in this game.
