The
Point Edward Tyke Blackhawks faced off
this past weekend against rival Lambton
Shores Predators.
In back to back games pitting last years
two top teams against one another the
Blackhawks came away with two wins and
four hard earned points!
Saturdays
home game would see the Hawks jump out
to and early one to nothing lead over
the visitor less then a minute into the
contest when Ryan Cossa netted the first
goal of the game. Leading the way
offensively Cameron McCarthy added 3
goals with his 3rd coming just after the
Preds had tied the game at three to give
the Blackhawks a lead they would not
relinquish on route to a 6 - 3 win!
Again, the score sheet was full of
assists showing the home team had to
work as a unit to score on a good
Lambton Shores goalie. "Performance
Player of the Game" Ben Crombeen showed
excellent hustle and determination on
multiple backchecking opportunities!
On Sunday
the Blackhawks traveled across the
county to play their first road game of
the season in Thedford, ON. The stands
were "rocking" as a full contingent of
"Point Fans" made the trip and were not
disappointed with the intensity shown on
the ice! Lambton Shores quickly jumped
out to a two nothing lead on the first
shift of the game before the Hawks could
conquer their emotions. Bearing down as
a team the Blawkhawks used a group
effort to claw back and take the lead
midway though the game. Goalie Nic
Hocking was pivotal not only in
recording the teams first road win of
the season, but, backstopping both
weekend games with style! Playing all
over the ice the coaching staff
recognized Isaac Oliphant as the teams
"Performance Player of the Game" in the
7 - 3 win!
The Tyke
Blackhawks next take the ice this
Saturday, December 17th when they host
the East Lambton Eagles at 10am at the
Point Edward Memorial Arena.
