December 8th, 2011 – Point Edward
Blackhawks host Mount Brydges Gold.
It was a long day of school followed
by a long road trip to Point Edward before the Mount
Brydges Gold would face off against the Blackhawks,
but that wasn’t going to hold them back. Mount
Brydges were able to hold them back until there was
less than 40 seconds left in the 1st
period, when the Blackhawks slid two past the goal
line.
The 2nd period started
with the Blackhawks adding to their lead, but it
looked as though Mount Brydges was aiming to make a
comeback, getting their last goal of the period with
1 second left on the clock, leaving only a 1 goal
gap (3-2) for the start of the 3rd.
With the game being as close as it
was, both teams seemed to be pushing themselves to
the limit, which made for a fast paced 3rd
period. The Blackhawks tried to shake up the Mount
Brydges game by pulling away with 2 more goals, but
the Gold would not be deterred so easily, and put
one of their own up on the scoreboard. The rest of
the period seemed like a battle of wills and neither
team could make anymore headway, ending the game in
the Blackhawks favour.
Final Score – Point Edward Blackhawks
win 5-3
The “Performance Player of the Game”
Award went to Kyle MacDonald for hitting the mark
with his passing and making sure nobody would get
too close to his goalie.

December 10th, 2011 –
Point Edward Blackhawks were visitors to Strathroy
Red.
Strathroy Red was ready and willing
to give the Blackhawks a run for their money.
It was obvious in the 1st
period that Strathroy Red was intent on being the
first to beat the Blackhawks and the scoreboard
didn’t differ. The period was intense, with both
teams sharing control of the puck. It was a battle
of determination, including both goalies, and
neither team wanted to be the first to waiver. The
period ended with no goals for either side.
The 2nd period started
with the same intensity as the 1st, and
it was Blackhawks who would make the first move and
take the lead less than 4 mins. in, but their lead
was short lived as Strathroy was able to sneak one
of their own in. Thinking that the Blackhawks had
met their match, the team’s confidence was renewed
as they were able to take the lead again, with only
6 seconds left in the period.
The 3rd period started and
it quickly became apparent that the Blackhawks were
not satisfied with a one goal lead. Between the
cat-like reflexes of the goalie, a brick wall of
defencemen, and the forwards hitting passes like it
was their jobs, the Blackhawks were able to spread
their lead by four more before Strathroy could
answer back. Unfortunately, one more goal would not
be enough and the Blackhawks put the icing on the
cake with two more, making the final score 8-2 for
the Blackhawks.
The highlight of the game today was
the incredible passing by each of the Blackhawks
players, making it look so easy to find their team
mates sticks.
Final Score – Point Edward Blackhawks
win 8-2
The “Performance Player of the Game”
Award went to Sullivan MacDougall for standing his
ground and showing everybody who owns the blue line!
