Sarnia
Express travelled to Kitchener
for a pair of games on Sunday
December 4th.
Sarnia began with an early
morning game with the Kitchener
Rangers. The Express had a tough
game and were fortunate to pull
off a 1-0 win. The lone goal was
a beauty by Nicky Futers, who
went end to end and roofed it on
the backhand. Defensemen Brooke
Clubb and Denise Coubough
assisted. Kate Rawlings had
another great game in net to
earn her third shutout of the
year.
Game
two the Express faced the always
strong Kitchener Wild, this game
would be the rubber match as
each team had come away with a
victory from their previous two
meetings. This time Sarnia would
be the victors.
Alicia MacDougall would open the
scoring with a hard snapshot
over the net minders shoulder
into the top corner. Brandi
Warner set her up with a perfect
pass to pick up the assist.
Denise Coubough also assisted on
the goal. Shortly after Alicia
MacDougall would score her
second of the game after
fighting off the Kitchener
defense, to once again place one
top corner. It was unassisted.
Brooke Clubb would bring the
Express up 3-0 with her always
dangerous slapshot. Teresa
Futers got the lone assist. The
Wild would come back and
threaten in the third scoring a
pair, but Sarnia held it
together on a really well played
game to bring home the 3 - 2
win. Lisa Meyers as always was
great in net for the Express.
The
pair of victories puts Sarnia in
second place, only 3 points
behind Aylmer. They travel to
Strathroy for their first
meeting with the Bluewater Hawks
Sunday December 11th.
