The
Sarnia Lady Sting Bantam BB team
made a return trip to the Waterloo
area after suffering a
2-0 loss to the Woolwich Wild the
weekend before.
The
Sting came ready to play the
Waterloo Ravens and controlled the
play during the first period. The
Stings best chance came on a
breakaway by
Lauren Wilson near the end of the
period which was turned away by the
Ravens goalie.
In
the second period the Sting
continued to come out strong when
Ashley Williams poked the puck away
from the Ravens defense and sent
herself
on a
breakaway. Williams was able to
solve the Ravens goalie bulging the
twine at the 1:08 mark giving the
Sting a
1 - 0 lead.
The
Sting carried a 1 - 0 lead into the
third period, when Meghan Blythe
stopped a clearing attempt by the
Ravens and let a strong shot go from
the point.
The
Ravens goalie was unable to control
the rebound which was picked up by
Suzanne Lockhart, who stepped around
the goalie and scored the Stings
second goal of the game.
The
game would end 2 - 0 for the Sting.
Whitney Simpson had another strong
showing in net recording another
shutout.
The
Lady Sting head to Lambeth Wednesday
night for a game, before heading to
the Markham-Stouffville Bantam
Classic Tournament on the weekend.
