Sarnia host chatham in flag football
sarniasports.com August 30th, 2011

While the Sarnia Flag Football Association regular season does not start until September 11, the SFFA hosted an exhibition game against a team from Chatham on Sunday August 28.

Chatham does have a flag league, though the style of game is different in that the SFFA is a contact, no equipment league. As such, Chatham first had to learn the game before taking to the field to take on the SFFA in an exhibition game.

The game started slow, and while the SFFA scored early, Chatham's speed started to become a challenge for the SFFA. At half, the score was 12-6 for the SFFA. As Chatham gained momentum and with a handful of interceptions later, Chatham took the lead late in the third quarter and never looked back defeating the shocked SFFA on their home field by a score of 32 - 16.

As the SFFA 2011 season schedule has already been developed, this game against Chatham is the first of many. Plans are already in the works to host an inter-city tournament as well as other exhibition games.

The Sarnia Flag Football Association would also like to remind players that the league does not host an open workout on the Labour Day weekend. Also, the SFFA season starts with 3 exhibition games on September 11 with the 2 games at 11:00 and 1 at 1:00.
