The Sarnia Produce Azzurri recently captured their
second consecutive Subway Cup title. The Subway Cup
is a tournament held within the Men's Over 35
Division in the Sarnia Men's Industrial Soccer
league (SMISL).
The team
went undefeated in the tournament advancing in the
quarter finals over ESSO 4 - 0, defeating Olympic FC
2 - 0 in the semi's and winning the title in
dramatic fashion over Tomlinson Enterprise in
penalty kicks. (4 - 3)
The
championship final was tied 1 - 1 after regulation
with no decisive goal in extra time. The game would
go to penaly kicks to determine the champion. Goal
scorers for the Azzurri in the PK's were Tony
Disotto, Danny Dicocco, Dominic D'Alessandro and
Okan Zeytinoglu with the winner. Azzurri keeper
Olindo DeSena Jr. came up big with two huge saves to
preserve the win.
