Forest, ON - Kyle Brothers scored four goals
Saturday night, in a 7-6 victory for the Lambton
Shores Predators over the St. Mary's Lincolns.
Brothers,
who played last season for the Alvinston Flyers in
Junior C hockey, scored the last four goals of the
game for the Predators including three in the final
period of play.
Lambton
Shores would take the lead in the middle of the
first, as Sam Jasmin would make it a 1-0 game. Cam
Downie would make it 2-0 for the Predators two
minutes later.
But the
Lincolns would close the gap, as Kurtis Lavis
brought St. Mary's to within one, while Adam Lavine
would score on the powerplay to tie the game at the
end of the first.
To start
the second, St. Mary's would take their first lead
of the game, as Josh Bradshaw made it 3-2. But the
Predators would not let the lead last long, as Adam
Arsenault would tie the game at 3-3 midway through
the second.
That is
when Brothers would take over for the Predators,
scoring his first goal at 16:12 of the second
period, giving the Predators the 4-3 lead heading
into the third.
In the
third, Brothers would score his second of the game
two minutes into the period, giving Lambton Shores
their two goal lead back. But in the next seven
minutes, St. Mary's would battle back to retake the
lead, as Mike Mandarelli, Dale Morningstar and Mike
Siddall each scored, allowing the Lincolns to take a
6-5 lead.
But
Brothers would complete his hat-trick to tie the
game at 6-6, and with the game looking like it would
go into overtime, Brothers would score his third of
the period and fourth of the game to give the
Predators a 7-6 lead, and eventually the victory.
Brandon
Campbell stopped 21 shots in the victory, as the ex-Alvinson
Flyers would help to pick up the Predators first win
of the preseason.
The win is
a much needed confidence boost for the Predators who
won 4 games last season.
Lambton
Shores will now head to Lucan to take on St. Mary's
again.
