Sarnia, ON - On a beautiful evening under the sunset
at the Bluewa ter
bridges, it was a battle of the two Sarnia Fury U9
teams for the Lambton-Kent District Soccer
Championships.
Sarnia Fury Black would be the home team dawning the
black and red facing the visiting Sarnia Fury 9 in
white.
The game opened with back and forth play with
neither team taking control as the kids may have
been tackling nerves knowing this was the last game
of the year.
Towards the end of the first half, Nathan Hawkes
went driving to the net and finished an Isaiah
Edlington crossed ball putting Black up 1 - 0.
Minutes later and with only a short period of time
left in the first half, Domenic Krasinkiewicz wa s
able to put Black up 2 - 0.
With the shadows drawing longer on the field, and
with only 35 minutes left in the U9 Championship;
Fury 9 came out strong and were rewarded early in
the second half. Joshua Gulamadeen put a through
ball for Michael Howe and he was not to be denied
and finished to put Fury 9 on the board and make the
score 2 - 1.
The game remained tight with back and forth play
until mid way through the second half when James
Brown blasted a ball from outside the box to put the
Fury Black up 3 - 1.
Carter Barron then scored twice to put the Fury
Black in command. Kyle Flamminio was awarded a
penalty shot with seconds remaining on the clock and
did not disappoint ending the game with the final
goal. Make the final Sarnia Fury Black 6, Sarnia
Fury 9 1.
It was a great year for both teams and parents
should be proud of their children. Awards were
presented to both teams at the conclusion of the
game.
