The
Sarnia Fury Black (U9) faced Bluewater Boom to close
out the regular season in District play. The Fury
were on their home turf coming off a recent
tournament victory in Kitchener. The boys came out
strong and hungry for the win with tremendous energy
on the pitch. Fury mid-fielder Dominic Krasinkiewicz
opened the scoring early when he fired a rebound
into the left corner of the Bluewater goal. Striker
Mateo Troiani made it 2 - 0 when he took the ball
around the boom defender and blasted a low shot into
the right corner of the goal. Fury Striker Carter
Barron closed out the scoring in the first half with
a thunderous shot from outside the box which eluded
the Bluewater keeper. Fury went into the half up 3 -
0.
The fast
pace continued in the second half as Bluewater began
to tire with a very short bench. Black Fury
mid-fielder Nathan Hawkes was awarded a penalty shot
from a hand ball in the Bluewater penalty area.
Hawkes did not disappoint as he rifled the ball into
the left corner of the goal. Shortly after, right
mid-fielder Kyle Flamminio made it 5 - 0 on a
beautiful strike from the right side of the pitch.
Bluewater would spoil the shutout when an own goal
found its way behind Fury keeper Andrew Harron. The
scoring would close out with Nathan Hawkes picking
up his second of the night from a shot inside the
Bluewater box. Great effort and execution form the
Fury boys as they closed out regular league play
with a solid performance. Final score: Sarnia Fury
Black 6 vs. Bluewater Boom 1.
The Sarnia
Fury Black have captured the league championship
finishing first in the U9 segment of the LKDSA's U10
Division. The Black Fury will now face its Club
rivals Sarnia Fury U9 in the play-off championships
this upcoming Monday night August 22nd @ Bluewater
Bridge Park field.
