Seven-year-old Ali Page of the Sarnia Y Rapids 1 Swim Team closed out her
swim season with two 1st-place
finishes at the St. Clair Erie
Aquatic League (SEAL) swim
championships in Windsor on
April 24, with her wins coming
in the 25m butterfly and
backstroke events. She added a 2nd-place
finish in the 25m freestyle and
4th in the 25m
breaststroke, earning her 2nd
place overall in the 7-and-under
girls’ age group.
Twenty-one of her teammates also participated, with two of them finishing
in the Top Three in at least one
event. Daisy Jenkins, 9, came 3rd
in the 100m Individual Medley
(IM) and 50m freestyle, adding 4th
in the 25m butterfly and 6th
in the 50m backstroke, with
personal best times (PBTs) in
each of her events, resulting in
a 3rd-place finish
overall in the 8-and-9-year-old
girls’ age group.
Thirteen-year-old Kaiden Rawson
placed 3rd in the
100m breaststroke, and 6th
in the 100m IM and freestyle
events, while also improving all
of his PBTs.
Earning ribbons for up to 6th place were: Kristen Alexander,
9, with 6th in the
25m butterfly and multiple PBTs;
Lauren Armstrong, 8, with 5th
in the 50m freestyle and 6th
in the 100m IM and 25m
breaststroke; Diane Clarke, 14,
with 5th in the 50m
butterfly and 6th in
the 100m freestyle while also
reaching all new PBTs; Mark de
Guzman, 12, coming 6th
in the 50m butterfly and besting
multiple PBTs; Greg Dietrich,
14, with 5th in the
100m breaststroke and 6th
in the 50m butterfly; Trevor
Marut, 9, with 4th in
the 100m IM and 5th
in the 50m freestyle and
backstroke events, and besting
his PBTs by as much as 5
seconds; and Ben Wright, 7, with
6th in the 25m
backstroke. Their teammate Kate
Bedard, 8, reached the Top 10,
finishing 8th in the
100m IM.
Tyler Murphy, 12 improved each of his PBTs by as much as 14 seconds,
while Carter Brush, 10, Olivia
Conroy, 12, Jessie Hillier,
Annabelle Rayson, Kylie
Thornton, and Isabella Wright,
all 10 (and who each improved
two PBTs), Russell Oliver, 10
(with three PBTs), Gabrion
Tulang, 10 (with four PBTs),
Hayden Wittliff, 11 (with two
PBTs), and Susan Wu, 12 (also
with two PBTs), also
participated.
