
The Mooretown Flags Jr. C
hockey team were in action
last night as the team
traveled to Wallaceburg and
came home with a 4 - 1 win
over the Lakers.
After a scoreless first
period, Mooretown's top
scoring leader Joe DeSena
(14-18) scored the first
goal of the game with
netminder Nolan Hakr earning
an assist. The lead
was short lived as Bronson
Bea evened the score :17
seconds later. Before
the period was over the
Flags added their second
goal that turned out to be
the game winner at 14:43 by
Trevor Bogaert from Cameron
Rannie.
In the third Nolan Riley
from Mike Kindrachuk
strengthened the lead and
after a Laker player took a
slashing penalty in the
final minute Colton Osborne
scored the only power play
goal of the game with help
from Jeff Brown and Landon
Wilson.
Shots on net recorded were
59 - 29 in favour of
Mooretown. Nolan Hakr
earned the win in net for
the Flags and George Hill
took the loss in net for the
Lakers.
Mooretown scored once on
four power play
opportunities, Wallaceburg
was scoreless on three
chances.
The win increases their
record to 18-12-2-1 as they
continue to hold 4th spot in
the standings race in the
Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey
League.
The Flags are back in action
on Sunday when they travel
to Dresden to take on the
Kings. Dresden is
currently in 6th place with
a record of 13-16-3-1.
