Mooretown Flags Took a Fall Against the Kings

The Mooretown Flags were in
Dresden Friday night and fell 7
- 4 against the Kings in Great
Lakes Jr C Hockey league action.
The Flags gave up
a 3 - 0 lead after the first as
Dresden went on and scored four
goals that included a short
handed and power play goal that
gave the Kings the 4-3 lead
after two periods of play.
In the third
the Flags were stunned as the
Kings scored three goals in the
first minute of the period. The
first on a power play at :10
seconds, then another :20
seconds later then again :14
seconds later to widen the lead
7 - 3.
Action
continued and the Flags managed
a goal at 18:21 but time ran out
and Dresden took the win.
Dillon Liberty
and Kevin Ritzer each scored two
goals for the Kings with singles
by Will Tetzlaff, Derrick
VanEvery and Isaac McLean.
Nolan Riley, Alec Segers, Matt
Brandon and Ben Morrison each
scored for the Flags.
Dresden
outshot the Flags 34 - 32.
Brandon Johnson took the loss in
net for the Flags and Joel
Sowinski earned the win.
Mooretown was
scoreless on four power play
opportunities, Dresden scored
twice on eight opportunities.
The Flags have
dropped into 5th place in the
standings race with a record of
19-14-2-2 a single point behind
Lakeshore (18-13-3-4).
Mooretown will finish off the
regular season this week with a
game on Monday Jan 26 in
Wheately, then on Friday Jan
29th the team is in Alvinston
and back home to finish the
regular season on Saturday Jan
30 hosting Blenheim.
