It was not easy, but Sarnia prevailed in a wide open offensive
tilt, holding on to a 6-5 win
over the Peterborough Petes, in
front of 3,061, fans at the
Sarnia Sports and Entertainment
Centre, Saturday night.
It was the kind of game that fans enjoy, but one that will give
grey hairs to the coaches.
Sarnia had a two goal lead, four
times in the contest, only to
see Peterborough pull to within
one goal each time. In the end,
goaltender Justin Fazio was able
to close out the win, stopping
19 of 24 shots for the Sting.
Travis Konecny, had his third multi-point game since joining the
Sting, with two goals and two
assists. In his nine game stint
with Sarnia, Konecny has been on
fire with 7 goals and 8 assists
for 15 points. Josh Jacobs, had
a goal and an assist, while
Brandon Lindberg, Jordan Kyrou
and Sam Studnicka scored a goal
apiece. Patrick White and Noah
Bushnell contributed a pair of
assists each.
Brandon Prophet had a goal and 2 assists and Jonathan Ang added a
goal and an assist to pace
Peterborough. Matthew Timms,
Greg Betzold and Hunter Garlent
also scored once. Dylan Wells
was in net for the Petes turning
aside 28 shots. Sarnia out shot
Peterborough 34-24.

After a near scoreless opening period, Lindberg let a shot go from
the slot that found the back of
the net. The goal was Lindberg’s
7th of the year and the assists
went to Patrick White and Noah
Bushnell. The goal, was
Lindberg’s 70th career point in
the OHL and for Bushnell, his
assist was career point number
40. Sarnia out shot Peterborough
8-5 in the period.
The second period was the complete opposite as Konecny struck
quickly, 42 seconds in. The goal
was unassisted. Peterborough,
scored their first goal shortly
after as Garlent notched his
25th, from Cornel and Coyle at
the 3:15 mark. Jacobs restored
the Sting two-goal lead, three
minutes later at 6:15, with both
White and Bushnell assisting on
the goal.
Kyrou made it 4-1 with a goal from in front. The assists went to
Zacha and Konecny.
Ang continued the scoring parade pulling the Petes within a pair at
14:01, with Dominik Masin
assisting. Peterborough
tightened things up with a late
goal in the final minute as
Timms made it 4-3, on the power
play, from Ang and Brandon
Prophet. Sarnia once again out
shot Peterborough, this time by
a 17-13 count. Each team scored
three goals in the middle frame.
As the third period got under way, the scoring continued. Sarnia
opened up a two goal margin for
the third time in the game only
to see Peterborough come back
with another tally. The Sting
goal came with the man
advantage, as Konecny scored at
3:04. Jacobs and Kevin Spinozzi
drew the assists.

Prophet scored unassisted for the Petes five minutes later to make
it a 5-4 game. The two teams
then exchanged goals once again
as Sarnia scored a second power
play goal. Studnicka netted the
goal at 11:52. Konecny and Jakob
Chychrun drew the assists. Betzold
got it back 41 seconds later,
