Mooretown Flags Celebrate Win in First Game of 2016

The Mooretown Flags hosted the Alvinston Flyers and came out on top earning a 4 - 2 win against the Flyers.

After the first period of play the Flyers had the 1 - 0 lead after Petrolia Native Hunter Bryce scored the only goal in the period at 7:14 on the power play.

In the second Parker Gilhuly from Kyle Smith and Christian Lyle tied things up at 7:47 then late in the period at 17:06 Ben Morrison scored on a power play for the Flags to take the lead.  Mike Kindrachuk and Alec Segers picked up assists on the goal. 

In the third Alvinston came back at 5:08 and scored to knot things up.  Ryan Cadwell scored the goal for the Flyers.  Alec Segers regained the lead scoring their second power play goal of the game at 15:59 with Colin Osler earning the assist.  With time running out Alvinston pulled netminder Matt Boere for the extra man only to have Trevor Bogaert score into the empty net to secure the win.

Mooretown recorded 39 shots on net,  Alvinston with 18.  Brandon Johnson earned the win with 16 saves.  Matt Boere suffered the loss with 35.

Mooretown went two for five on the power play, Alvinston scored once on five opportunities.

The Flags are now 17-12-2 -1 for the season and currently in 4th place in the standings. 

The Flags are on the road for the next three games the first in Wallaceburg on Wednesday Jan 6, then to Dresden Sun Jan 10 and in Lakeshore on Friday Jan 15.
