Mooretown Flags Came Up Short

The Mooretown
Flags hosted the Amherstburg
Admirals Saturday night and came
up short losing 3 - 2 in Great
Lakes Jr. C Hockey League
action.
Amherstburg
opened the scoring in the first
at 15:23 on a goal scored by
Broden Meloche. Ben
Morrison answered back a minute
half later scoring on the power
play with Joe DeSena and Ryan
Lyle picking up the assist. The
period ended with both sides
tied at one.
Period two saw
Alec Segers give the Flags the
lead just over a minute into the
period. Colin Osler and
Kyle Smith picked up the assist
on the goal. Amherstburg
came back and tied the game at
12:12 with Travis Campbell
scoring. The second would
continue and end with both
sides tied 2 - 2.
Third period
action saw the Admirals pull
ahead once again with Caleb
Paquette scoring what turned out
to be the game winner at 14:24.
Mooretown outshot the Admirals
33 - 28. Brandon Johnson
suffered the loss made 25 saves.
Connor Meyerink earned the win
with 31 saves.
Mooretown penalty
killing line was outstanding
shutting out Amherstburg on nine
power play opportunities.
Mooretown scored once on nine
chances. Amherstburg took
a total of 44 minutes in
penalties time on 14
infractions. Mooretown
tallied 28 minutes on 12
infractions.
The Flags remain
in 4th spot in the standings
with a record of 19-13-2-2 for a
total of 42 points.
Amherstburg moved into second
with the win with 46 points and
a record of 21-10-3-1.
Blenheim dropped to third with
45 points and record of
22-11-1-0.
The Flags has four games
remaining in the regular season
with the next three games on the
road. On Friday January 22
they travel to travel to
Dresden to take on the Kings.
Dresden is currently in 6th
place (14-19-3-1). The
last time the two teams met in
November they skated to a 3 - 3
tie. In the three games
prior to that the Flags won.
Monday January 25
the travel to Wheatley then on
Friday Jan 29 in Alvinston.
The Flags final regular league
game is a home game against
Blenheim on January 30th.
