Point Edward Atom Blackhawks Tournament Champs

The Point Edward Atoms continue to sweep in tournament play.  Earlier this season they were undefeated at the Mason Berube Tournament in Dresden and and undefeated at the Walter Gretzky Tournament in Brantford.  On the Family Day holiday weekend they continue the win streak going undefeated to win gold at the Bob Black Memorial Tournament in Oshawa.

 

At the Bob Black Tournament the Point boys defeated the Apsley Flames 8 - 1, Cumberland Dukes 6 - 4 and the Nepean Vipers 6 - 3.  In the playoff quarter round they took a solid 5 - 2 win over the Durham Crusaders.  In the semi's the Blackhawks edged out the Nepean Knights with a final score of 8 - 7 that gave them a spot in the final.  In the final it was another tough match but the boys came out on top with a narrow 1 - 0 win to bring home gold.

 

In Lambton-Middlesex Local League play the Point Edward Atoms were tied for first place in the Atom West Division with a record of
18-2-0 for a total of 36 points.  The Atoms are currently in playoffs and swept the first series against Lambeth 1 in three games.  The Blackhawks are currently waiting for the winner in the series between Strathroy, Mt Brydges and Lambeth 2.  Strathroy is leading the series with 5 points.
