
The Mooretown Flags were in Belle River at the Atlas Centre on Friday night
and came home with a 4 - 3 overtime win over the Lakeshore Canadiens.
Lakeshore took an early lead after scoring at
2:14 in the first period on an unassisted goal by Guy Lavesque. Just
over the midway point Ben Morrison tied the score with Joe DeSena and Colin
Osler picking up the assist. The period would end tied with one
apiece.
Late in the second at 16:49 Joe DeSena from
Morrison and Mike Kindrachuck scored the lone goal of the period to take the
lead for the first time.
Third period action saw Lakeshore's Guy
Lavesque score his second unassisted goal at 14:50 to tie the game then :14
seconds later Joe Binder scored for the Canadiens to regain the lead.
Ryan Lyle spoiled things for the Canadiens when he scored his first goal of
the season and the tying goal on the power play goal at 16:20 with Matt
Brandon earning the assist. Time ran out in the third and the game
went into overtime and Lyle scored his second and the winning goal at 1:36.
Lakeshore outshot the Flags 67 - 36. Brandon
Johnson was outstanding in net turning away 64 shots in the win.
The Flags went one for seven on the power play, Lakeshore went zero for
four.
The Flags are now 3 - 2 in the early season
and are back in action tonight at home when they host Amherstburg at 7:30 pm
at the Moore Recreation Centre.
