
The Mooretown Flags were in
Wallaceburg against the
Lakers Wednesday night in
Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey
league action. The two teams
battled back and forth but
it was the Flags that came
out on top taking a 6 - 4
win.
In the first period
Wallaceburg scored two
unanswered goals to go up 2
- 0. Jacob Theoret
scored the first goal on the
power play and Brendan
Ritchie added the second
unassisted.
Two unassisted goals in the
second by Mooretown would
tie things up after Landon
Wilson and Alec Segers
scored just :15 seconds
apart at 16:27 & 16:42.
In the third period a pair
of power play goals would
give the Flags a 4 - 2 lead
with the first scored by Ben
Morrison and Mike Kindrachuk
adding the second.
Wallaceburg narrowed the gap
after Justin Lindsay added a
power play goal but the
Flags leading point scorer
Joe DeSena (6-6) would
regain the two point spread.
Wallaceburg continue to
battle and with just 1:00
left on the clock
Wallaceburg's Justin Lindsay
narrow the gap to one.
The Lakers attempt of tying
the game was lost when
Cameron Rannie scored into
the empty net with :08
seconds remaining in the
game.
The recorded shots on net
was 41 - 29 in the Flags
favour. Nolan Hakr
earned the win in net for
the Flags, George Hill took
the loss.
Both teams spent time in the
penalty box as Mooretown
took 44 minutes on 15
infractions and Wallaceburg
took 40 minutes on 12
infractions. Both teams
scored twice on power play
opportunities, Mooretown had
seven chances and
Wallaceburg nine.
Mooretown's record is now 7
- 5 for a total of 14
points. On Saturday
October 31 the Flags look to
increase their point
standing when they host the
Wheatley Sharks who are tied
in points but have two games
up. (6-6-1-1) Game
time is set for 7:30 pm at
the Moore Sports Complex.
