The Sarnia Lady
Sting Peewee B
team has had a
very successful
season so far
this season.
The Lady Sting
won the South
West Division
championship and
will represent
their division
at the London
Ladies Female
Hockey League (LLFHL)
Tournament of
Champions on
March 28 – 29 in
Oshawa. Sarnia
will go up
against the top
teams from the
North East,
North West and
South Central
Divisions.
The Lady Sting
finished the
regular season
tied in points
for fourth place
but tiebreaking
rules placed
them in fifth
spot.
In the first
playoff round
Sarnia defeated
the 4th place
team South Huron
Sabres in the
best of three
series. In the
first game both
teams were tied
1 – 1 then
Sarnia shut out
the Sabres 2 – 0
in the second
and 1 – 0 in the
third game.
In the second
round the Lady
Sting went up
against the
Division leaders
the Waterloo
Ravens.
Like the first
series the first
game ended in a
tie with both
sides going
scoreless. In
game two Sarnia
edged out the
Ravens and took
a 1 – 0 win.
In an exciting
third and
decisive game
the Ravens were
ahead 2 – 1
after regulation
time that tied
up the series.
With the series
tied at 1-0-1
the two teams
remained on the
ice to played in
a sudden death
period to decide
the winner of
the series.
Sarnia scored
first that gave
them the series
win and a spot
in the final
round.
In the final
round the Lady
Sting faced the
Woodstock
Wildcats who
finished second
in the regular
season. Sarnia
swept the series
against the
Wildcats in two
games with both
games won with
final scores of
2 – 1 that gave
the Lady Sting
the South West
Division Title
and a spot in
the League
Championships.
The team has
also qualified
for a spot in
the Provincial
Finals that is
held in
Mississauga
April 10 – 12
after defeating
3 opponents in 6
games. In the
Provincial
playdowns Sarnia
defeated Kent
County (2-0),
(3-1), Lakeshore
Lightning (3-0),
(2-1) and
Windsor Wildcats
(5-2) (3-1).
Team members
include
goaltenders
Abigail Clouse
and Alexa
Whitlaw who were
outstanding
throughout the
series.
The team
forwards include
Tori Iacobelli,
Bridget
Kristjansson,
Brooke Lauwers,
Caitlin Wilson,
Josie Jackson,
Juliette Rossi,
Megan Norcross
and Kami Burr
and on the
defense are
Amanda Chafe,
Erin More,
Isabelle
Thiffeault,
Kaitlyn Aliperti,
Paula Jackson,
Ryley Biggar.
Special mention
to team member
Marley Jackson
who broke her
foot during the
season and had
to sit out on
the sidelines.
Despite the
setback Jackson
came out and
supporter the
team at every
game and
practice.
