Solid Weekend for Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Atoms

The Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Atom AAA had a solid weekend taking two wins against Cambridge in Alliance League Consolation final series.

 

At home on Saturday the Jr. Sting defeated Cambridge 3 - 1.

Isaac Oliphant led the team scoring 2 goals and Tanner Winegard added a single.  Winegard picked up his second point of the game with an assist.  Aaron Shanks and Bo Doxtator also earned assist.

 

Earning the win in net was Caiden Smit.

“I was proud of the team today," head coach Corey Pageau said  "It was not our best game of the year, but Smit was strong in net and the team did what it took to win the game.  Too many times we came out on the wrong end of a tight game, but the kids are learning what it takes to win”

Hardest worker awards in Saturday's game went to  Isaac Oliphant, Caiden Smit.

On Sunday the two teams met for game two in Cambridge and came home with a solid 7 - 1 win.

“Great road win today, Pageau said. "Leading 3 – 1 heading into the third period, the boys came out a little flat, but then re-focused and laid down the hammer and put Cambridge away."

Aaron Shanks was the top gun for the Jr. Sting in this game scoring 4 goals and earning an assist for a five point game.  Tanner Winegard earned four points scoring 2 goals and 2 assists. Nolan Mumford earned 2 points with a goal and an assist.

Ryan Pageau had a 2 point game assisting on two goals and earning single points with assists were Adam Osler, Aaron Shanks, Lucas Gaspari, Landon Buckingham and Luke Doan.

Carter LaRocque picked up the win in net for Lambton and also was name one of the Hardest Workers Award recipients in this game along with Aaron Shanks.

"Solid goaltending by La Roque coupled with another great game from Shanks and Winegard, helped us win with a great team effort.”

Lambton leads the best of five series 2 - 0 and look for another win and the Championship on Saturday at home for game three.  Game time is at 12:00 pm at the RBC Centre.
