
The Sarnia Lady
Sting played their
first game of a home
and home series
against the
Bluewater Hawks in
Strathroy on
Saturday January
24th.
The game ended in a
0-0 tie, with both
teams exchanging
chances throughout
the game, but unable
to solve either
goaltender. Brooke
Kirkland had a solid
game in net for the
Lady Sting earning
the shut-out.
On Sunday for the
second game of the
home/home series the
Sarnia Lady Sting
hosted the Bluewater
Hawks in their final
game of the regular
season.
The Lady Sting would
open the scoring in
the first period,
when an alert
Abigail Whitely
observed a loose
puck not covered by
the Bluewater
goalie, and pushed
it in the net for a
1-0 Sarnia lead. The
Lady Sting would
take the 1-0 lead
late into the 3rd
period, until
Bluewater responded
with a power play
goal to tie the game
1-1.
Both teams had
chances to take the
lead in the final
few minutes, but
were turned away by
strong goaltending
on both teams.
The Lady Sting are
awaiting news on who
they will play in
the 1st round of
playoffs.
The Sarnia Lady
sting will be
participating in
this weekends Sarnia
Woman's
International Silver
Stick Tournament.
